Members Bulletin No. 2 06/99
1. APSA-HK online
The ExCom has resolved to put APSA-HK online. The URL is www.apsahk.com and will be operational by late July or early August 1999. Please visit the temporary site at www.hkbiz.com/apsa . The website will be bilingual. This will be one of the EGM agendas.
2. May activities
A talk and dinner was organised on 21st May 1999 at the Swatow Garden, South Pacific Hotel. Mr. Philip Fok, our Training Co-ordinator spoke on "Training Development". The talk was well received.
3. Link with Hong Kong University of Science & Technology (HKUST)
A total of 11 ExCom members attended the "Confluence" dinner on 22nd April 1999 at the HKUST. Post graduate students were given information about the security industry in Hong Kong.

In mid-May, 1999 Mr. Tommy Tong Secretary of APSA-HK was interviewed by the Students' Affair Section of HKUST. In June, 1999 the association helped in circulating the HKUST Summer Fieldwork Program.

4. The EGM and Dinner in July
Note: Only paid-up member can vote at the EGM on 30th July, 1999. Of course, renewal of membership can be made on the spot.

  1. To pass the revised APSA-HK Constitution.
  2. To pass the change of legal status from Societies Ordinance to Company Registry Ordinance.
  3. To pass putting APSA-HK and all member data online (internet).

Chairperson of IPSA-HK and Area Head/Security & Operations Risk Management of the Standard Chartered Bank.

B. Y2K Readiness in Hong Kong Speaker: Mr. John S.L. Ng
APSA-HK Chairman and Government Security Officier.
Fees: 1. EGM only HK$50.00 (One drink included)
2. EGM & Dinner HK$300.00 (One drink included)
Remarks:
  1. Attending paid-up members may redeem their membership certificates.
  2. Attending paid-up members may renew their membership and updating member data form.

5. APSA Excom Meeting in Manila
Our Chairman Mr. John S.L. Ng and seven other ExCom member attended the meeting (at their own expense) on 24th June, 1999 at Westin Philippines Plaza Hotel. The ExCom meeting resolved:
  1. Using internet to foster communication between HQs and national Chapters.
  2. Mr. Bobby Leung's (EX-Chairman, APSA-HK) post as APSA Security General has been suspended.
  3. The 6th APSA Conferences in New Delhi will be between 8th - 10th December, 1999. Registration fee is set at US$150 or below. Details of the event will be published by India Chapter soon.
  4. Permanent Founder Members of APSA who are no longer with respective national chapter ExCom will not be allowed to stay at the HQ ExCom. An Advisory Board of honorary posts will be set up to accommodate appropiate veterans.
6. Membership fees
The ExCom meeting in April resolved to collect annual membership subscription fees as follow:-
a) Corporate member HK$3,000
b) Individual member HK$ 800
Membership subscription payment can be made direct to APSA-HK's Hong Kong Bank account no. 004-119-375038-001. Pay-in and completed Member Data Form can be faxed (2752 6371) to APSA-HK for confirmation. Receipt will be sent by mail.
