2. The First Event Of The Millennium

On 18th January 2000 over 60 members and guests attended a seminar on ‘Aviation Security” at the south Pacific Hotel, Wanchai. The speaker, Mr. Sidney Chau, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police and General Manager of AVSECO delivered a very interesting and most informative lecture on the subject. The evening had proved to be a most enjoyable one with good food and wine.

3. Annual General Meeting

The AGM was held on 31st March 2000 at the Commissioner’s Restaurant, 8/F., Scouts Centre, Mr. John SL Ng, Chairman of ASA-HK reported generally on the well being and development of the association over the preceding year.

Mr. Charles Tang Presented the Financial Report. Mr. Ho Tik Man and Mr. Martin Hong were appointed Honorary Auditor and Legal Adviser respectively. Invited guests included Mr. Edward Pong Chairman of VTC Security Services Training Board. Mrs. Daphne Cheung, secretary of SGSIA and representatives from various professional security associations.

4. Securetex 2000 - Conference & Exhibition

Together with many other professional security associations, APSA-HK played a role in the Panel Committee. The Panel advised the Organizer (Hong Kong Exhibition Services) on the format and content of the conference. The Bi-annual event covering a 2-day conference and a 4-day exhibition was considered as fairly successful.

5. Member’s Activity in June

A buffet dinner and seminar was held on 23rd June 2000 at Jasmine Room, 2/F., Royal Gardens Hotel. Guest speaker, Mr. Peter Lee Ki-pong, Chief Inspector of Police of Crime Prevention Bureau gave a talk on ‘General Issues suffered by Security Business Operators’ The talk was well received by the 40 strong audience. It was yet another enjoyable evening.

6. Membership Subscription

All members should have received their debit notes asking of 2000/20001 membership subscription (validity 1st April, 2000 - 31st March, 2001). Official receipt for payment and Membership Certificates will be delivered by post. For enquires, please call Mr. Dennis Lam, Membership Secretary at 27288130. (See attached Members’ List)

7. Training Matters

APSA-HK has joined hands with Hong Kong College of Technology (HKTC) and Young Women Christians Associations in promoting the SITO Security Management Training Course. Interested parties may contact the two institutions direct. It should be noted that APSA-HK only involves in the delivery and supervision of the course while administration remains the responsibilities of the organizers. So far, response from the related field has been encouraging.

8. The World Security Congress - Bangkok, Thailand

The First World Security Congress is scheduled to be held in Bangkok, Thailand Between 8th and 10th November 2000. The Organizer is APSA headquarters. Details for enrolment will be announced in early September.
